The death of WO1 HL (Len) Jones

Ladies & Gentlemen

It is with great sadness that I pass onto you the news received from
Australia regarding the death of WO1 HL (Len) Jones. This email was sent by
Len's dear friend Colleen. 

Len served with the Royal Berkshire Regiment from 1929-1954 enlisting at
Aldershot and seeing service in Shorncliffe, Jerusalem, Alexandria, Suez
Canal and India. 

Hi Sue,

This is to advise that our dear neighbour Len Harrington-Jones, passed away
on 10th October, aged 102 years.  He was a true English gentleman, and was
always keen to talk about his days in the English Army.    He will be sadly
missed.

The late Major Alan Pickford

It is with great sadness and regret that I write to advise that Major GRA(Alan) Pickford TD died peacefully in Salisbury Hospital on the evening of the 31st October last.  Further details will be passed to you when they are known.

The Death of WO2 Francis (Frank) Welch MBE

We are sad to have to inform you of the death of one of our in -pensioners at the Royal Hospital WOII Frank Welchdied over a year ago unfortunaly we have only just been informed of this sad event. Details as follows:

Pte George Hamilton former 1 RGBW

This is to inform you that former Pte George Hamilton former 1 RGBW sadly passed away on 19th September 2016. George Served from 1998 with 1 RGBW. His funeral will take place on the 7th October at Sussex and Surrey Crematorium at 1500hrs.

Former Sgt James Gerald (Gerry) Connolly

This is to advise you that former Sgt James Gerald (Gerry) Connolly sadly passed away yesterday 19th September 2016 aged 70 years. Gerry Served with 1 Glosters from 1967 to 1979.

If you wish to send a letter of condolence or ring his widow Sandra please let me know and I will forward details on to you.

As yet funeral arrangements are unknown but will take place in Bristol. As soon as I have details I will forward them on to you.

Legion D'Honneur presentation

Please see the link below, with regards Raymond Moore who served in the 2nd Bn Glosters on D Day and was honoured by France with the Legion D'Honneur. The medal was presented by the Mayor of Wellingborough and Ray was little overwhelmed by the presentation but really enjoyed the evening

Dave Sutton-Thompson's funeral

Just to let you know that Dave Sutton-Thompson's funeral has been booked for next Friday 8th April 2016 at 2.30pm at Sedgemoor Crematorium, Stretcholt, TA6 4SR. If you are coming to the funeral please arrive at 2.20pm for the service. Please pass this info onto everyone you might feel appropriate and who also knew Dave.

Bev Cuerden was recently approached by an elderly lady living in Oldham (Mrs Brooker)requesting me to help her take her husband’s ashes back to where he was born in Tidworth, Hampshire.
We will be spreading his ashes on his mother’s grave on Saturday 2nd April at 1130hrs. At
St Marys Mortuary Chapel
Shipton Road
Sth Tidworth
Wiltshire, SP9 7ST.
There will be a short service with bugler and standards, then anyone who wishes to pay their respect will be invited back to the RBL Club. Tidworth, Penning’s Way, SP9 7SU, for a few drinks and a light buffet.
If anyone is able to attend it would be an honour to have you there even if you only come to the RBL. I will be in attendance and would love to meet Some of our Veterans Honoured supporters.

Loving husband of Delicia, father & grandfather whose humour, compassion & wisdom remained to the end. Private funeral. Thanksgiving, Winchester Cathedral, Tuesday 19th April, 2.30pm. No flowers. The Death of Mrs Margret Martin

As you know Margaret passed away peacefully on Tuesday 24th Nov, the arrangements for the funeral have been made.

The Humanist service will take place on Wednesday 9th December at Lichfield & District Fradley Crematorium, WS13 8GA,  at 13.30 & the Celebration of Life for Margaret after the service will take place at, Fradley Arms, Rykneld Street, WS13 8RD (just round the corner from The Crematorium).

Peter asked for you to wear bright colours, not black please.
Flowers will be family only.
Donations to Macmillan Nurses & St Giles Hospice Whittington, there will be a donation box at the crematorium.
