The Death of Major D J English, Glosters

You may wish to be aware of the recent death of Major David John English. David died in late October aged 87 years old. David English was a National Service officer who served as a 2ndLieutenant at the Battle of the Imjin River where he was a platoon commander with C Company, 1stBattalion The Gloucestershire Regiment. Following the battle he was amongst those captured and became a Prisoner of War.

Following his release and repatriation to the United Kingdom he was selected for a regular commission with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps. He served with the RAOC until 1978 when he retired from the Army at the age of 47. He joined International Computers Limited which subsequently became known as Fujitsu. He remained with the company until his final retirement at the age of almost 65. In retirement he enjoyed travelling, walking and spending time with his family. His wife, Sara Elizabeth English, pre-deceased him in April 2013.

The Funeral Service of David John English will take place on Wednesday 14thNovember 2018 beginning at 11.00 am. The service will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Coldharbour Road, Upper Dicker, East Sussex, BN27 3QB.
