Association Secretary
It is now some seven months since the sad loss of our extremely efficient Association Secretary, Mike Godwin. In advertising for a successor the Trustees circulated a Job Specification, which may on paper have looked intimidating. However the sad fact is that we need to secure the services of a Secretary to ensure the continued existence of the Association. The Honorarium that was initial offered was £500 a month. The Trustees are prepared to increase that amount by 50% should a serious and suitable person be forthcoming. Should anyone have a sensible suggestion to overcome this situation it would be appreciated if that suggestion was put before the AGM.
Thanks from the Chairman
As Chairman of the Association I would just like to take this opportunity to thank the hard working Branch Committees for their hard work and endeavours at keeping the Association ticking over at the grass roots and for those members involved in ensuring the Reunions at the county level are continuing, even if it involves some minor changes.
ASSOCIATION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Association AGM had been planned to take place on Saturday 23rd on November since the last AGM. Venue and catering arrangements had been reserved based on those dates.
In view of the unintended clash of the AGM (set a year ago) and the Thanksgiving Service for the safe return of 1 Rifles from their recent operational tour and the subsequent low numbers signed up for the AGM, the Association's 2019 AGM, due to be held on 23 November 2019, has been postponed until Saturday 18 January 2020.
The village of Lidgate, Suffolk, is holding a Dedication Ceremony on Sunday 3rd November 2019 to add three World War II names to their War Memorial.
