Cenotaph 2020

Cenotaph 2020 The Royal British Legion has been responsible for the Cenotaph Dispersal since 1927 and has just initiated the process for Regimental Associations to register for the 2020 Remembrance Sunday. I have registered the Association requesting 50 places.

This year the annual Service of Remembrance will be held at the Cenotaph on Whitehall on Sunday, 8th November.

 

In accordance with Her Majesty's Government's plans for this year’s ceremony, the number of spaces on the Veterans’ Parade will remain limited at 10,000 places.

The RBL cannot guarantee any association will receive the number of tickets that they initially apply for.

Their intent remains to seek as broad a representation of the veteran community as is possible.

ELIGIBILITY Associations should prioritise individuals who are directly affected by service with the Armed Forces in their contingent.

Military and Civilian men and women from the UK and the Commonwealth that served the Crown on Military Operations.

Wives, husbands or civil partners of those who died as a result of their service in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces or during a time of war.

Regrettably, the carer accompanying the veteran must be included within the 10k cap; where appropriate, the option of one veteran assisting another for the duration of the Dispersal should be considered.

Although the Legion provides guidelines as to those eligible to take part in the dispersal,

Associations rightly remain responsible for the selection of those within their respective contingents.

IMPORTANT DATES The key dates for 2020 are as follows:

8 June: All association initial applications to be submitted. Any applications received after the due date will not be accepted.

29 June: RBL to confirm 2020 ticket allocation to each association.

17 August: Deadline for associations to complete individual participant information.

1 September: Application process to re-open for associations to register additional participants if vacancies exist.

October: Tickets and Joining Instructions sent to associations. Individual security checks will take place before entry to Horse Guards Parade. Ticket holders are to bring photographic ID and proof of address with them to gain access.

Please be advised that the RBL are working towards business as usual for the Cenotaph Dispersal on Remembrance Sunday.

They are continuing to follow government advice for mass gatherings to ensure the health and safety of our participants remains their priority. Any changes to this event will be communicated via their website Remembrance Sunday| Cenotaph Dispersal

At this point in time I merely want your name and email address. If you know of a colleague who wishes to attend but they do not have an email address please do the comradely act of passing his details to me and act as his buddy as if in a fire fight.

Later on once, I have received the correct link those who wish to attend will be "invited" to the link for the association's bidding form where you will have to provide details for the security check before formal tickets are provided.
