The Death of Major Arthur Cainey. Wilts & DERR


Major Arthur Cainey passed away on 14 January 2020 aged 103 at his home in Cheltenham.

He enlisted into the Wiltshire Regiment in 1934 rising to the rank of WO1 and then being commissioned and prior to retiring served in DERR. Arthur Cainey served during World War 2 with the Second Battalion and was involved in the Phoney War and the Retreat to Dunkirk. Later with his battalion he took part in the Sicily and Italy campaigns and then the advance into Germany. Funeral details will be released when know
