The Death of Major David Holdsworth

Major David James Holdsworth died peacefully at home after a long illness, on October 6th, 2020. aged 91. The last surviving officer of the 'Glorious Glosters' to have fought at the Battle of the Imjin in Korea, 1951. Joined the FCO in 1967, serving in Hong Kong, Thailand, Burma, Singapore, Brunei, and Israel. Beloved husband of Marie-Luise, father, step-father and grandfather to 22. His wit and charm will be greatly missed by all. Private funeral.

As a young National Service Officer I served with David Holdsworth in the 1st Bn of the Gloucestershire Regiment at Knook Camp Warminster 1952/1953 and we have met occasionally since. A remarkable and very kind man.
