The Death of WO1 (RSM) David Porter DERR

David Porter died suddenly on Saturday 22nd August aged 63. He joined DERR, aged 15, in Sept 72 at Wyvern Bks in Exeter and retired in Spring 1996, having been RSM at ITC Brecon.

A belated comment, I know. Dave was one of the best WO2's I had ever served with. Even as a WO2 he was one of the fittest men in the battalion. I was Sigs Det Commander D Coy when Dave was CSM. I did many a stag with him in South Armagh and his leadership, humility and sense of humour made stagging on with him a pleasure! Great guy, sad loss.
