The Death of Lt Phillip Mayhew The Wiltshire Regiment

I write to advise you of the death of Lt. Philip Mayhew formerly of Westering House, Milton Lilbourne, Pewsey, Wiltshire SN9 5LQ on 14 November 2021.

Philip was born on 27th May 1934 and was called up for National Service with The Wiltshire Regiment in 1952, initially as a Private Soldier; however having successfully passed WOSB he went to Eaton Hall and was commissioned into the Regiment . He missed the tour in Hong Kong and served with the 1st Battalion in UK when they we re Demonstration Battalion working out of Knook Camp.

He completed NS in 1954 and then joined the 4th Battalion as a TA officer which he continued to di until 1960.;

when the ever increasing size of the farm he and his brother ran required more of his time and energy In the 1990's a pang of nostalgia for the regimental connection brought him back into the Wiltshire Regimental Association

A Service of Thanksgiving for his life will be held at 1.00 p.m on Monday 29th November at St. Peter's Church, Milton Lilbourne. He is survived by his widow, Mrs Azalea Mayhew. Our Condolences to the Mayhew family
