The Death of Brian Goucher, Royal Berkshire Regiment

Brian Goucher, Royal Berkshire Regiment, passed away aged 82, on Tuesday 14 April. Brian had been ill for several months and in the last week had been readmitted to a local hospice where he had hoped to spend his last days. Details of the funeral, which in the current situation will be limited to family only is not known at this stage

The Death of Alan Cottrell DERR

On 8th April 2020 Alan Cottrell passed away after a valiant fight against Covid-19. Alan was serving with 1 DERR in 1966 as a member of the Support Platoon with A Company in Clifton Barracks, Minden, West Germany. He was a stalwart supporter of the Regimental Association and a regular attender of the annual Cenotaph Parade at Whitehall. Once out of the Army he was the manager of a local football team in the Swindon area in his spare time, as well as being a passionate supporter of "The Robins".

Major Peter Whiteman TD


Major Peter JM Whiteman Served 1 Glosters 1955-56. 5 Glosers(TA) on formation 1967. 1 Wessex Commanded A Coy.

In 1970 Battalion Second in Command.

He was both a Trustee and Board Member of the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum and a long term supporter of the Gloucestershire Regimental Museum Trust.

Died 13th February 2020.

We have received information relating to the passing of Terrence Shapter who died recently in Plymouth.

The date of his funeral is 20th March 2020. Service 1100hrs Minster Church of St. Andrew, Royal Parade, Plymouth PL1 2AD.

Followed by Cremation 1215hrs at Weston Mill Crematorium. Ferndale Rd, Weston Mill, Plymouth PL2 2EP.

The family will hold a wake and celebration of Terrys life, where all are welcomed and invited to attend at;
