The admin instruction for the summer meeting to be held at Upavon Golf Club on Friday 5 June 2026 is below, with many thanks to Norman for liaising with the Club. Please note we are moving back to playing on Friday for our annual competition for the Regimental Trophies. As previously promulgated we will be building on the success of last year’s inaugural match against the Rifles and will be playing a match against the Rifles, also at Upavon Golf Club, on Thursday 4 June 2026. Details of the match against the Rifles will follow in a separate admin instruction. THE FARMERS BOYS (DERR) GOLF SOCIETY SUMMER MEETING FRIDAY 5 JUNE 2026 GENERAL 1. The 2026 summer meeting of The Farmers Boys (DERR) Golf Society will take place at Upavon Golf Club (https://www.upavongolfclub.co.uk/) on Friday 5 June 2026. FORMAT 2. The format of the competition will be: · Medal Gross · Medal Nett · Stableford Singles (Low handicap) · Stableford Singles (High handicap) TROPHIES/PRIZES 3. Regimental trophies will be awarded as follows (2025 winner in brackets): a. Medal Gross. 1st - Gilson Trophy (Kev Flay) 2nd - Bone Beaker (Dave O’Hara) b. Medal Nett. 1st - Gilson Bowl (Norman Minty) 2nd - Gamble Cup (John Marsh) c. Stableford Singles (Low handicap). 1st - James Cup (Dave Gardner) 2nd - Shorncliffe Cup (Peter North) d. Stableford Singles (High handicap). 1st - Education Cup (Steve McIntyre) e. Champion Golfer Regimental Plate. (Norman Minty) f. The “Frog”. (Jo Edmonds) g. The “Bandit”. (Norman Minty) 4. The “can only win one major Regimental trophy” rule will apply. In addition prizes will be awarded for “Nearest the Pin” and “Nearest the Pin in 2” (holes tbc), cash for any ‘2s’ and “Most Golf Played.” Prizes will be organised by Andy Fontana, who has kindly agreed to be the Prizes Secretary for the meeting. 5. Prize giving will take place before the post-match meal at approx 1700 hrs, with the meal being served at approx 1730 hrs. 6. Holders of trophies from the 2025 meeting are requested to ensure that they are suitably engraved, polished and brought to the meeting on 5 June 2026. 7. The prize contribution is £10 which will include the contribution to the ‘2s’ pot. COSTS 8. Summer Meeting – 5 June 2026. The cost for the 5 June 2026 competition is £76 which includes coffee and bacon rolls on arrival, 18 holes of golf, a 2 course meal and £10 into the prize pot. PLEASE NOTE THAT IN ORDER TO SECURE YOUR PLACE PAYMENT MUST BE MADE BY BANK TRANSFER BY FRIDAY 22 MAY 2026 to Mr Jonathon Marsh, Sort Code 07 – 01 – 16, A/C No: 11691600. (The cost for members of Upavon Golf Club is £36) TIMINGS 9. Summer Meeting – 5 June 2026. Please arrive by 0930 hrs when coffee and bacon rolls will be served. A quick briefing will take place just at 0945 hrs, with the 1st flight teeing off at 1056 hrs (with 8 minute intervals). ENTRY FORMS/PAYMENT 10. If you plan to attend please reply to me by email ASAP but NLT 22 May 2026 at johnny_marsh@tiscali.co.uk with the following information. Even if you have already indicated to me that you plan to attend I would be grateful if you would re-confirm as well.
